Who’s Gor?

Some time ago I bumped into one of the more bizarre species of Second Life:

A “Gorean”.

What the hell is that, you might ask yourself and so did I. I saw the thing called “Gor” mentioned in his profile and me being of the curious kind, I had to question him about it. The first thing he asked:

“Have you got time?”

“Yes”, I answered, not knowing that I was in for some serious lecturing about history and philosophy. So this guy who responds to the name of a 6-legged fantasy animal of sorts (Sleen) gave me an in-depth explanation about what is Gor and most importantly: what it  is not!

A Steaming Flight

Today Tristan took me over the clouds. Literally! He bought himself a plane. No just an ordinary plane. The plane is called “Steampunk Dreamliner” and does indeed deserve that name. For those who don’t know what Steampunk is, here the Wikipedia blurb : Steampunk.

Gerry’s Party Lounge 2.0

You probably remember my article “lets party”, in which I introduced Gerry’s (Gerhardt) place. If you don’t,  here we go: Lets Party! In the last couple of days, I spoke to Garry and Elly, his Girl Friend,  about a remake of the place. The reason being was,  that Gerry was kind of frustrated about the fact that not many people actually visited the place.

Forever young?

It comes of no surprise that most avatars in Second Life look young and pretty. It is one of the advantages of a virtual world that age does not affect your avatar in the slightest.

However there are people that don’t feel represented by a youngish avatar, simple because they might be rather mature or even old people in real life and want to portray that in Second Life too. Not everybody wants to look forever young.

More freebies and a busy day!

Yesterday the day started with a nice surprise. I had money on my account. I sold my first 6 Items on my marketplace shop: Second Life hair.  470 LD (Linden Dollar)  – hurray! Yes,  I know it’s not a lot of money, but it’s a start and its Caroline’s first earnings in Second Life.  That was very encouraging.

I became a hairdresser!

I was thinking about how to make a living in Second Life. Not that I want to become rich and famous, I just want to finance a bit of shopping and such with a Second Life income. I don’t need land or a home, as I will be travelling all over the grid to write for this blog. So being “homeless” suits me quite nicely.

So what options do I have?

I could work as a hostess in a club. The downside of that is, that I would be tight to a place which is the opposite of what I want. For those of you that like the idea of growing roots in Second life: A hostess usually greets and entertains people at dance clubs and events. She usually gets paid tips from the audience into what is called a tip jar. The same applies for dancers in a club. To me that is not an option as it interferes with my plans.
