One of the first things a new resident (noob) wants to do is establishing social contacts. You want to meet people, flirt a little, make friends and maybe a bit a more than that. In fact most new male residents are initially extremely curious about sexual activities in Second Life, but I will embellish on that topic later.
Never the less, there is one very easy way to get in touch so to speak, with other people:
Today I explored the steamier side of Second Life. I received a landmark from a new friend I made at Dance Island: Monique, who works there, as a hostess. In our conversation the topic sex in second life came up:
or at least I thinks so. Ok here we go. I did some freebie shopping.
The majority of the stuff I got at a website called marketplace. If you are new to Second Life, its worth the while to get familiar with this site. Most merchants in Second Life have an online shop there and its just much more comfortable to shop there then having to TP from one shop to the other In-World. In fact, I have read somewhere on a blog, that there is more business conducted over marketplace (short: MP) than In World! Whether or not that is true, I don’t know, but I can certainly imagine.
Today I went to the second landmark somebody gave me yesterday at Help Island, place called “Dance Island”. As the name suggests it’s a ..guess what? Yes a dance club. In fact it is one of the oldest dance clubs in Second Life. Their welcome notecard explains it best:
DANCE ISLAND is one of the oldest and largest party zones in SL. We have about 60 performing dj’s spinning TRANCE, DANCE, HOUSE and TECHNO almost 24/24. Enjoy the party!!!
Of course I landed in a shopping mall. For those who don’t know: most clubs are actually financed by renting out shops in those malls. That’s the business model in fact. You don’t pay entrance fee at those clubs, everything is for free and the owner pays the land, the building, the music stream, DJs and so on.
It has been a long time since I actually login into Second Life with a brand new account. Things changed a lot I noticed. The good news was, that I don’t have to do all the stupid tasks again which were kind of mandatory years ago. Instead you land at a place called Destination Island.
